DTC B1422: Body Control Module Power Malfunction: Description

Body Control Module (BCM) monitors IGN 0, IGN 1 and CRANK circuits from ignition switch. BCM uses voltage state (B+ or 0) and sequence of state changes to determine power mode called for by ignition switch.

DTC B1422 will set and store when BCM detects an improper voltage on ignition switch circuit(s), a short to voltage or ground on ignition switch circuit(s), or sequence of change in ignition switch circuit(s) may be incorrect for expected power mode. BCM will operate in a fail-safe power mode dependent on last valid power mode detected and state of engine run flag data on class 2 serial data communications circuit. Other modules on vehicle will operate in fail-safe power mode dependent on last valid power mode transmitted by BCM and state of engine run flag on class 2 serial data communications circuit.

Current DTC B1422 will clear when BCM detects a sequence of ignition switch inputs that match expected power mode. A history DTC B1422 will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if condition for malfunction no longer exists. Scan tool can also be used to clear DTC.
