Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under instrument panel near steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Attempt to establish communication with Body Control Module (BCM). If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  3. Select BCM display DTCs function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to HORN SYMPTOM INDEX  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  4. If scan tool does not display any DTCs which begin with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs which begin with "U", go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  5. If scan tool displays DTC B2752 or B2753, go to next step. If scan tool displays any other DTCs beginning with "B", go to SELF-DIAGNOSTICS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  6. Go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  . Perform test(s) listed in numerical order.
