DTC B3102: Keyless Entry Data Link Circuit Low: Testing

NOTE: For component locations, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . To identify wire colors and modules on class 2 serial data link, see appropriate DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. For circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  1. If Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, check status of DTC B1302. If DTC is current, go to next step. If DTC is not current, see DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  .
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). Using a DVOM connected to ground, check voltage on RCDLR harness connector terminal "E" (Light Green wire). See Figure . If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, go to step  5 .
  4. Test Light Green wire between RCDLR harness connector terminal "E" and Body Control Module (BCM) Black harness connector C3 terminal A1 for short to ground. See Figure and Figure . If short to ground is not found, go to step  6 . If short to ground is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  9 .
  5. Check RCDLR connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step  7 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  9 .
  6. Check BCM connectors for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step  8 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  9 .
  7. Replace RCDLR. See REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK RECEIVER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  9. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within CODE ENABLE CRITERIA  conditions. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC B3102 resets, return to step  2 . If DTC B3102 does not reset, system is okay.
