DTC B1003: Keyless Entry Data Link Circuit Malfunction: Testing
NOTE:
For component locations, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS
. For circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. To identify wire colors and modules on class 2 serial data link, see appropriate DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- If Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) harness connector. Connect a test light between ground and RCDLR harness connector terminal "E". See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 4 .
- Test Light Green wire between RCDLR harness connector terminal "E" and Body Control Module (BCM) Black harness connector C3 terminal A1 for short to voltage. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If short to voltage is not found, go to step 5 . If short to voltage is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Check RCDLR connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step 6 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Check BCM connectors for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step 7 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Replace RCDLR. See REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK RECEIVER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within CODE ENABLE CRITERIA conditions. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC B1003 resets, return to step 2 . If DTC B1003 does not reset, system is okay.
