Test J: Memory Seat Feature Inoperative

  1. If diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check was not performed, see DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Operate memory seat system. If memory seat system operates correctly, check for intermittent problem. If memory seat does not operate correctly, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect memory seat module. Connect a test lamp between battery positive voltage and each memory seat switch signal circuits (one at a time) and operate each switch respectively. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test lamp illuminates for each signal circuit when switch is depressed, go to step  5 . If test lamp does not illuminate at proper time, go to next step.
  4. Test for an open in memory seat switch signal circuit. If problem is found, repair as necessary and then go to step  9 . If problem is not found, go to step  6 .
  5. Inspect for poor connections at harness connector of memory seat module. If problem is found, repair as necessary and then go to step  9 . If problem is not found, go to step  7 .
  6. Inspect for poor connections at harness connector of seat adjuster switch. If problem is found, repair as necessary and then go to step  9 . If problem is not found, go to step  8 .
  7. Replace memory seat module. After completing repairs, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace seat adjuster switch. After completing repairs, go next step.
  9. Operate memory seat system in order to verify repair.
