Cruise Control Diagnostic System Check

  1. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, see TEST B: SCAN TOOL INOPERATIVE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Attempt to communicate with PCM. If scan tool communicates with PCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with VIU, see TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select PCM display DTCs function on scan tool. If DTCs which begin with a "P" are retrieved, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If DTCs which begin with a "P" are not retrieved, repair by symptom. See appropriate CRUISE CONTROL article.
