Cellular Communications Diagnostic System Check

  1. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, see TEST B: SCAN TOOL INOPERATIVE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Attempt to communicate with VIU, If scan tool communicates with VIU, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with VIU, see TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select VIU display DTCs function on scan tool. If DTCs are recorded, go to next step. If no DTCs are listed, repair by symptom.
  4. If DTCs which begin with a "U" exist, go to next step. If any other DTCs are displayed, go to step  6.
  5. If DTC 1500 is displayed, repair as directed. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If other "U" DTCs are displayed, see TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  6. If DTCs B1000, B1004, B1007 or B1009 are displayed, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If any other DTCs are displayed, go to next step.
  7. If scan tool displays DTC B1327 or B1328, see ENGINE ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . If any other DTCs are displayed, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
