Test B: Seat Does Not Move Forward/Back

  1. Disconnect horizontal adjuster motor 2-pin harness connector. Connect test light between positive battery voltage and horizontal adjuster motor harness connector terminal "A" (Tan wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  2. Connect test light between ground and horizontal adjuster motor harness connector terminal "A" (Tan wire). Press and hold seat adjuster switch to forward position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  3. Connect test light between positive battery voltage and horizontal adjuster motor harness connector terminal "B" (Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  9 .
  4. Connect test light between ground and horizontal adjuster motor harness connector terminal "A" (Tan wire). Press and hold seat adjuster switch to rearward position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  11 .
  5. Check for poor terminal contact at horizontal adjuster motor harness connector. Repair terminal contact as necessary. Recheck system operation. If terminal contact is okay, replace horizontal adjuster motor. See DRIVE MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  6. Disconnect seat adjuster switch 8-pin harness connector. Check for open or high resistance in Tan wire between seat adjuster switch harness connector terminal "H" and horizontal adjuster motor harness connector terminal "A". If open or high resistance exists, repair Tan wire as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If open or high resistance does not exist, go to next step.
  7. Check for poor terminal contact at seat adjuster switch harness connector. Repair terminal contact as necessary. Recheck system operation. If terminal contact is okay, replace seat adjuster switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCHES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  8. Disconnect seat adjuster switch 8-pin harness connector. Check for short to ground in Tan wire between seat adjuster switch and horizontal adjuster motor. If short to ground exists, repair Tan wire as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation. If short to ground does not exist, go to step  10 .
  9. Check for open or high resistance in Light Green wire between seat adjuster switch harness connector and horizontal adjuster motor harness connector C1. If open or high resistance exists, repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If open or high resistance does not exist, go to next step.
  10. Check for poor terminal contact at horizontal adjuster motor harness connector. Repair terminal contact as necessary. Recheck system operation. If terminal contact is okay, replace seat adjuster switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCHES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  11. Disconnect seat adjuster switch 8-pin harness connector. Check for short to ground in Tan wire between seat adjuster switch and horizontal adjuster motor. If short to ground exists, repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation. If short to ground does not exist, replace seat adjuster switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCHES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
