DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURAL TABLE

1 1. Reconnect all previously disconnected components
2. Connect a scan tool to the diagnostic link connector (DLC).
3. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF to ON position, engine off.
Does the scan tool communicate with the electronic brake and traction control module (EBTCM)?
-- Go to Step 2 Go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE
2 Using the scan tool in the ABS diagnostic trouble codes (DTC), read the VES DTCs.
Does the scan tool display a current or history VES DTC(s)?
-- Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type  for the Applicable DTC Table Go to Step 3
3 Are there any current or history ABS/TCS DTC(s) displayed? -- Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ABS Go to Step 4
4 1. Start the engine.
2. Turn the steering wheel to the right.
3. Turn the steering wheel to the left.
Does the steering wheel turn with little effort?
-- Go to Step 5 Go to STEERING EFFORT HARD IN ONE OR BOTH DIRECTIONS
5 1. Drive the vehicle.
2. While driving the vehicle perform several turns and listen for any unusual sounds.
Was there any rattle and/or chuckle noise from the vehicle?
-- Go to RATTLE, CLUNK, OR SHUDDER NOISE FROM THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM System OK
