Test 1: Front Wipers Do Not Operate In Any Mode
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe wiper switch connector C211 terminal E4 (Yellow wire). If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is not on, repair poor connection or open in Yellow wire circuit between fuse block and wiper/washer switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Turn wiper switch to HIGH position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe connector C211 terminal E3 (Purple wire). If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is not on, check for poor connection at wiper/washer switch connector C211 terminals E3 (Purple wire) and E4 (Yellow wire). Repair as necessary. If connections are okay, replace wiper/washer switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
- Disconnect 5-pin wiper motor connector. Connect test light between ground and wiper motor connector terminal "D" (Purple wire). See Fig 1
. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is not on, repair poor connection or open in Purple wire between wiper/washer switch and wiper motor assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Connect test light between wiper motor connector terminals "C" (Yellow wire) and "B" (Black wire). See Fig 1
. If test light is on, check for poor connection to wiper motor assembly. If connection is okay, replace wiper motor assembly. See WIPER MOTOR
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light is not on, repair open or poor connection in Black wire between wiper motor assembly and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
