DTC B2647: Ambient Light Sensor Signal Short To Ground/Open: Testing

  1. If body function controller (BFC) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If body function controller (BFC) diagnostic system check has not been performed, go toBODY FUNCTION CONTROLLER (BFC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Disconnect ambient light sensor from top of instrument panel. Disconnect BFC Gray 24-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ambient light sensor harness terminal "B" (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If continuity is not indicated, go to step  4 . If continuity is indicated, go to next step.
  3. Repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire between ambient light sensor and BFC connector C2. After repairs, go to step  7 .
  4. Using DVOM, measure resistance in Yellow/Black wire between ambient light sensor harness terminal "B" and BFC connector C2 terminal A3. See Figure . If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step  6 . If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Repair open in Yellow/Black wire between ambient light sensor and BFC. After repairs, go to step  11 .
  6. Replace ambient light sensor. After repairs, go to next step.
  7. Reconnect all disconnected components. Clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If DTC B2647 exists, go to next step. If DTC B2647 does not exist, perform BODY FUNCTION CONTROLLER (BFC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  8. Replace BFC. See BODY FUNCTION CONTROLLER (BFC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  9. Using DVOM, measure resistance in Light Green/Black wire between ambient light sensor connector terminal "A" and BFC connector C2 terminal B2. If reading is 0-2 ohms, go to step  11 . If reading is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
  10. Repair open in Light Green/Black wire between BFC and ambient light sensor. After repairs, go to step  7 .
  11. Using DVOM, measure resistance between BFC connector C2 terminal B2 (Light Green/Black wire) and ground. If reading is infinite, go to step  6 . If reading is other than infinite, go to next step.
  12. Repair short to ground in Light Green/Black wire between BFC and ambient light sensor. After repairs, go to step  7 .
