Rear Quarter Windows Inoperative
- Check POWER QTR VENT (10-amp) fuse located in instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is open, go to next step. If fuse is not open, go to step 3).
- Repair short to ground in Brown wire between fuse block and Interior light/multifunction switch. Recheck system operation.
- Disconnect interior light/multifunction switch Blue 8-pin connector C4 (located at center, front of headliner). Using test light connected to ground, backprobe interior light/multifunction switch connector C4, terminal "E" (Brown wire). See Fig 1. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 5).
- Using test light, backprobe between interior light/multifunction switch connector C4, terminals "E" (Brown wire) and "B" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 6). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 7).
- Repair poor connection or open in Brown wire between fuse block and interior light/multifunction switch. Recheck system operation.
- Using test light connected to ground, backprobe interior light/multifunction switch connector C4, terminal "C" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 8). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9).
- Repair poor connection or open in Black wire between interior light/multifunction switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
- Repair short to voltage in Brown wire between interior light/multifunction switch and right rear quarter window motor. Recheck system operation.
NOTE:
Black wire between interior light/multifunction switch and rear quarter window motor changes to Brown wire at connector C308. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using DVOM, check Black or Brown wire between interior light/multifunction switch and rear quarter window motors for continuity to ground. If continuity to ground exists, locate and repair short to ground as necessary. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Using DVOM, check continuity of Black or Brown wire between interior light/multifunction switch harness connector C4, terminal "C" and rear quarter window motors connector terminal "B" (Brown wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair poor connection or open in Black and/or Brown wire between interior light/multifunction switch and rear quarter window motors.
- Connect test light between ground and interior light/multifunction switch connector C4, terminal "D" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 13).
- Repair poor connection or open in Brown wire between interior light/multifunction switch and splice S427. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Repair short to voltage in Black or Brown wire between interior light/multifunction switch and rear quarter window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Using DVOM, check continuity between ground and interior light/multifunction switch connector terminal "D" (Black wire). If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Black wire between interior light/multifunction switch and rear quarter window actuator motor.
- Using DVOM, check continuity of Black wire between interior light/multifunction switch connector terminal "D" and rear quarter window motors connector terminal "A". If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step 17).
- Check for poor connection at interior light/multifunction switch. If connections are okay, replace interior light/multifunction switch.
- Repair poor connection or open in Black wire between interior light/multifunction switch and splice S423. Recheck system operation.
