Trouble Shooting
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Before proceeding with specific testing, check the following for proper operation:
- Check courtesy lights for proper operation.
- Check fuses, and replace as necessary.
- Check and ensure grounds are clean and tight.
- Check for broken or partially broken wire inside insulation, which could cause system malfunction, but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring voltage drop with system operational (under load).
- Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment.
