Diagnostic Procedures
- If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, see procedures in BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC. urn ignition on. Using scan tool, establish communication with PCM. If communication can be established, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, perform POWERTRAIN ON-BOARD (OBD) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. See TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- Using scan tool, establish communication with IPC. If communication can be established, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, diagnose IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
- Check serial data line for intermittent open, short to ground, short to voltage, or loose/damaged terminals. Check for faulty splice pack SP205. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 7). If circuits and connections are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall connectors and components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check DTCs. If DTC U1255 resets, go to next step. If DTC U1255 does not reset, system is okay.
- Replace BCM. Perform new BCM setup. See BCM PROGRAMMING . After programming BCM, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall connectors and components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. After clearing DTCs, perform procedures in BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
