DTC B3267:DECKLID Output Relay Short To Ground Or Open: Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am and 1999 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If circuit is shorted to ground, fuse will blow. Check fuse before performing diagnostics.
- Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. Go to next step.
- Replace rear compartment lid release relay in LH instrument panel junction block with a known-good relay. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) and select BODY & SPECIAL FUNCTION to activate trunk lid release relay. If trunk lid release operates properly, go to step 11 . If trunk lid release does not operate properly, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LH instrument panel junction block connector C1. Connect test light between LH instrument panel junction block connector C1 terminal F3 (Light Blue wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 6 .
- Check for poor connections at BCM and rear compartment lid release relay. If poor connections are found, go to next step. If connections are okay, go to step 12 .
- Repair poor connection at BCM or relay. After repairs, go to step 13 .
- Remove rear compartment lid release relay. Using DVOM, measure voltage between rear compartment lid release relay cavity terminal No. 87 and ground. If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 8 . If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
- Repair open in battery feed circuit in LH instrument panel junction block. After repairs, go to step 13 .
- Disconnect BCM connector C1. Remove rear compartment lid release relay. With test light connected to battery voltage, probe BCM connector C1 terminal B3 and rear compartment lid release relay cavity terminal No. 85 (Light Blue wire). If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 10 .
- Repair short to ground in Light Blue wire between BCM and LH instrument panel junction block. After repairs, go to step 13 .
- Repair open in Light Blue wire between BCM and LH instrument panel junction block. Check for poor connections at BCM and rear compartment lid release relay. After repairs, go to step 13 .
- Replace rear compartment lid release relay. After repairs, go to step 13 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
