Diagnostic Procedures

  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to procedures in BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM harness connector C1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe BCM harness connector terminal D1 (Light Green wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to step 5). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 6).
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ignition key alarm switch connector. Leave test light connected as specified in step 2). Observe test light. If test light illuminates, go to step 5). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 6).
  4. Using test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe BCM harness connector terminal D1 (Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 7). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 8).
  5. Repair short to battery voltage in Light Green wire. After repairs, go to step 12).
  6. Replace ignition key alarm switch. After replacing ignition key alarm switch, go to step 12).
  7. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe BCM harness connector terminal D1 (Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 13). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 14).
  8. Connect test light between battery voltage and ignition alarm switch connector terminal "D" (Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 10).
  9. Repair poor connection or open in Light Green wire. After repairs, go to step 12).
  10. Connect test light between battery voltage and ignition key alarm switch connector terminal "E" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 6). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  11. Repair poor connection or open in Black wire. After repairs, go to next step.
  12. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. After clearing DTCs, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  13. Repair short to ground in Light Green wire. After repairs, go to step 12). 14 Replace BCM. Perform new BCM setup procedures. See procedures in BCM PROGRAMMING  .
