Diagnostic Procedures
- If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, see procedures in BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Try to start engine using all ignition keys provided with vehicle. Wait 3 minutes between each attempt to allow PASS-Lock(R) timer sequence to reset. If one of the keys works, go to step 7). If no keys work, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, check for DTCs B2722, B2723 or B2735. If any of these DTCs exist, go to appropriate DTC test. If none of these DTCs exist, go to next step.
- Perform lock cylinder and harness test. See procedures in ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM article. If problem is found, go to step 9). If problem is not found, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ignition switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using DVOM, check voltage between theft deterrent key PASS-Lock(R) resistor harness connector terminals D2 (Yellow wire) and D3 (Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage reading is about 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage reading is not about 5 volts, go to step 8).
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If DTC B2721 sets as current DTC, go to step 10). If DTC B2721 does not set as current DTC, system is okay.
- Replace malfunctioning ignition key. After replacing faulty ignition key, go to step 11).
- Check for poor connections, partial shorts, or damaged wiring in circuits No. 1835 (Black wire) and No. 1836 (Yellow wire) to BCM. Repair as necessary. If repair was performed, go to step 11). If system is okay (no repair needed), go to step 10).
- Replace ignition lock cylinder. After replacing ignition lock, perform theft deterrent relearn procedures. See BCM PROGRAMMING .
- Replace BCM. Perform new BCM setup procedures. See procedures in BCM PROGRAMMING . After programming BCM, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. After clearing DTCs, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
