Diagnostic Procedures

  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, see procedures in BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect door lock relay (located behind instrument panel). Using a test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe door lock relay harness connector terminal C2 (Light Green wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 4).
  3. Disconnect BCM harness connector C1. Leave test light connected as in step 2). Observe test light. If test light illuminates, go to step 8). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 7).
  4. With test light still connected as in step 2), press UNLOCK button on either door lock switch. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 6).
  5. Replace door lock relay. After replacing relay, go to step 10).
  6. Disconnect BCM harness connector C1. Using DVOM, check continuity of Light Green wire between BCM and door lock relay. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, go to step 9).
  7. Replace BCM. Perform new BCM setup. See BCM PROGRAMMING  . After replacing BCM, go to step 10).
  8. Repair short to ground in Light Green wire between door lock relay and BCM harness connector C1. After repairs, go to step 10).
  9. Repair poor connection or open in Light Green wire between door lock relay and BCM harness connector C1. After repairs, go to next step.
  10. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition switch on. Clear DTCs using scan tool. After clearing DTCs, perform BCM diagnostic system check. See BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
