DTC U1040: EBCM Class 2 Serial Data State Of Health Fault: Testing

  1. If BFC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BFC diagnostic system check was not performed, see procedures in BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, establish communication with EBCM. If communication can be established, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, go to step 4).
  3. See ANTI-LOCK BRAKES article in BRAKES section. Go to step 8).
  4. Using scan tool, establish communication with other modules. If communication can be established, go to step 6). If communication cannot be established, go to next step.
  5. Locate and repair problem in DLC system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Go to step 8).
  6. Clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If DTC U1040 exists, go to next step. If DTC U1040 does not exist, go to step 8).
  7. Replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Go to next step.
  8. Clear DTCs. Perform BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
