Test No. 1: Wipers Do Not Run In Any Mode
- Locate wiper/washer Black 5-pin connector. Connector is located behind instrument panel on left side of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Backprobe with test light between ground and terminal "C" (Yellow wire) at wiper/washer switch wiring harness connector. See Fig 1
. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, replace fuse and/or repair open wire between wiper switch connector and instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is open, check Yellow wire circuit for short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS

- Turn wiper switch to HI. Backprobe with test light between ground and terminal "A" (Purple wire) at wiper/washer switch wiring harness 5-pin connector. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, Check for poor connection at Purple wire at wiper/washer switch 5-pin connector terminals "C" (Yellow wire) and "A" (Purple wire). If connection is okay, replace wiper/washer switch.
- Disconnect wiper motor 5-pin connector. Connect test light between ground and terminal "C" (Purple wire) at wiper motor 5-pin wiring harness connector. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for open or poor connection in Purple wire between wiper/washer connector and wiper motor.
- Connect test light from wiper motor connector terminal "C" (Purple wire) and terminal "A" (Black wire). If test light is on, check for poor connection to wiper motor assembly. If connection is okay, replace wiper motor assembly. If test light is off, check for open or poor connection in Black wire. Repair as necessary.
