Instrument Cluster Inoperative
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between instrument cluster connector terminal B9 (Purple wire) and ground. See Fig 1
. If battery voltage is measured, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 5).
- Measure voltage between instrument cluster connector terminal A1 (Orange wire) and ground. See Fig 1
. If battery voltage is measured, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 7).
- Measure voltage between instrument cluster connector terminal B9 (Purple wire) and terminal B10 (Black/White wire). See Fig 1
. If battery voltage is measured, go to next step. If battery vol tage does not exist, go to step 9).
- Measure voltage between instrument cluster connector terminal A1 (Orange wire) and terminal A4 (Black/White wire). See Fig 1
. If battery voltage is measured, Replace instrument cluster. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 10).
- Measure voltage between Left Hand Instrument Panel Bussed Electrical Center (LH I/P BEC) connector C1 terminal C9 and ground. See Fig 2
. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, Replace Left Hand Instrument Panel Bussed Electrical Center (LH I/P BEC).
- Locate and repair open in Purple wire between LH I/P BEC connector C1 terminal C9 and Instrument Cluster connector terminal B9. See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM
.
- Using a DVOM, backprobe terminal A12 of LH I/P BEC connector C1 and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, Replace Left Hand Instrument Panel Bussed Electrical Center (LH I/P BEC).
- Locate and repair open in Orange wire between LH I/P BEC connector C1 terminal A12 and Instrument Cluster connector terminal A1. See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM
.
- Locate and repair open in Black/White wire between instrument cluster connector terminal B10 and ground splice, located at front of engine. See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM
.
- Locate and repair open in Black/White wire between instrument cluster connector terminal A4 and ground splice, located at left side of instrument panel. See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM
