DTC P0463, Sender Open/Short To Battery
- If BFC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BFC diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Disconnect BFC 24-pin, Gray connector C2. Disconnect fuel tank module connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, check voltage between BFC connector C2, terminal A4 (Black wire) and ground. If zero volts exists, go to next step. If zero volts does not exist, go to step 8).
- Back out left I/P bussed electrical center 30-pin Black connector C3, terminal A12 (Black/White wire). Using DVOM, check resistance between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C3, terminal A12 (Black/White wire) and fuel tank module harness connector terminal "D" (Black/White wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 5). If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
- Repair open in Black/White wire between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C3 and fuel tank module. Go to step 16).
- Back out left I/P bussed electrical center 30-pin, Gray connector C2, terminal A1 (Black wire). Using DVOM, check resistance between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C2, terminal A1 (Black wire) and left I/P bussed electrical center connector C3, terminal A12 (Black/White wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 12).
- Using DVOM, check resistance between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C2 terminal A1 (Black wire) and BFC 24-pin, Gray connector C2, terminal A4 (Black wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 13). If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
- Repair open in Black wire between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C2 and BFC connector C2. Go to step 16).
- Back out left I/P bussed electrical center 30-pin, Black connector C3, terminal A12 (Black/White wire). Using DVOM, check voltage between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C3, terminal A12 (Black/White wire) and fuel tank module harness connector terminal "D" (Black/White wire). If zero volts exists, go to step 10). If zero volts does not exist, go to next step.
- Repair short to battery in Black/White wire between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C3 and fuel tank module. Go to step 16).
- Using DVOM, check voltage between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C2, terminal A1 (Black wire) and left I/P bussed electrical center connector C3, terminal A12 (Black/White wire). If zero volts exists, go to next step. If zero volts does not exist, go to step 12).
- Repair short to battery in Black wire between left I/P bussed electrical center connector C2 and BFC connector C2. Go to step 16).
- Replace left I/P bussed electrical center. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article. Go to step 16).
- Reconnect all components. Replace fuel tank module. Go to next step.
- Clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If DTC P0463 exists, go to next step. If DTC P0463 does not exist, go to step 16).
- Replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Go to next step.
- Clear DTCs. Perform BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
