DTC B2603, DRL Relay Output Short To Battery

  1. If BFC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BFC diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Using scan tool, activate DRL relay. If DRL relay does not activate, go to next step. If DRL relay activates, go to step 11).
  3. Replace DRL relay with a known good relay. DRL relay is located in underhood bussed electrical center. If DRL relay does not activate, go to next step. If DRL relay activates, go to step 11).
  4. Remove DRL relay from underhood bussed electrical center. Back out underhood bussed electrical center 68-pin, Brown connector C3, terminal B12 (Light Green/Black wire). Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, check voltage between underhood bussed electrical center connector C3, terminal B12 (Light Green/Black wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 6).
  5. Replace underhood bussed electrical center. Go to step 11).
  6. Disconnect BFC 16-pin connector C1. Using DVOM, check voltage between BFC harness connector C1, terminal B5 (Light Green/Black wire) and ground. If zero volts exists, go to step 8). If zero volts does not exist, go to next step.
  7. Repair short to battery in White wire between BFC connector C1 and underhood bussed electrical center connector C3. Go to step 11).
  8. Check for a poor connection at BFC connector C1, terminal B5 (Light Green/Black wire). If a poor connection exists, go to next step. If connection is okay, go to step 10).
  9. Repair poor connection at BFC connector C1, terminal B5 (Light Green/Black wire). Go to step 11).
  10. Replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Go to next step.
  11. Clear DTCs. Perform BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
