Memory Functions Inoperative

  1. If diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check was not performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Ground memory seat diagnostic connector. Memory seat/mirror control module will chime once to indicate Mode 1 has been entered. Operate DRIVER-1, DRIVER-2 and memory set buttons. Memory seat/mirror control module should chime once at each switch input. If any switch input does not cause a chime to sound, go to step 6). If all switch inputs cause a chime to sound, go to next step.
  3. Remove ground from memory seat diagnostic connector, and within 5 seconds, ground memory seat diagnostic connector again. Module will chime 2 times to indicate Mode 2 has been entered. Operate seat and mirrors in all directions. Module will chime once at each open, shorted or faulty position sensor or circuit. If any switch input causes a chime to sound, go to next step. If no switch inputs cause a chime to sound, go to step 9).
  4. Check for open or short in Gray wire between appropriate position sensor and memory seat/mirror control module Blue 32-pin connector C1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 8).
  5. Check for open or short in Black wire between appropriate position sensor and memory seat/mirror control module Blue 32-pin connector C1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to step 9). If circuit is not okay, go to step 8).
  6. Check for open in White wire (DRIVER-1), Purple wire (DRIVER-2) or Orange wire (Memory Set) between left seat switch and memory seat/mirror control module Blue 32-pin connector C1. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 8).
  7. Replace left seat switch. See POWER SWITCHES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  8. Repair open or short in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK.
  9. System is functioning properly. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . If symptom still exists, replace memory seat/mirror control module. See MEMORY SEAT/MIRROR CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
