Test No. 2, Heater Element Isolation Test

  1. Disconnect inoperative heated seat control module connectors C2 and C3. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Using ohmmeter, check resistance between heated seat control module connector C3 harness terminals "A" (Gray wire) and "B" (Gray wire). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 10 ohms, check for poor connection or open in Gray wires. If circuits are okay, replace seat cushion heaters.
  2. Check resistance between heated seat control module connector C3 harness terminals "A" (Gray wire) and ground. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check for short to ground in Gray wires. If circuits are okay, replace seat cushion heaters.
  3. Check resistance between heated seat control module connector C2 harness terminals "C" (Blue wire) and "D" (Blue wire). If resistance is 850-1150 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 850-1150 ohms, check for open in Blue wires. If circuits are okay, replace seatback heater.
  4. Check resistance between heated seat control module connector C2 harness terminal "C" (Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check for short to ground in Blue wires. If circuits are okay, replace seatback heater.
  5. Check resistance between heated seat control module connector C2 harness terminals "A" (Gray wire) and "B" (Gray wire). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 10 ohms, check for poor connection or open in Gray wires. If circuits are okay, replace seatback heater.
  6. Check resistance between heated seat control module connector C2 harness terminal "A" (Gray wire) and ground. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check for short to ground in Gray wires. If circuits are okay, replace seatback heater.
  7. Check for poor connections at heated seat control module connectors C2 and C3. Check for open or short to ground in heated seat control module pigtail wiring. If connections and circuits are okay, replace heated seat control module.
