Keyless Entry System Inoperative

  1. Operate power door locks using front door lock switches. If door locks operate normally, go to next step. If door locks do not operate normally, see appropriate DOOR LOCKS - POWER article.
  2. Disconnect keyless entry module connector C2. Keyless entry module is located behind lower left side of instrument panel near parking brake. Connect test light between connector C2 Orange wire and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Orange wire.
  3. Connect test light between Black and Orange wires at remote keyless entry module connector C2. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Black wire between remote keyless entry module and ground.
  4. Check keyless entry module and connectors for poor terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, program a known good transmitter. If transmitter programs correctly, replace suspect transmitter. If transmitter does not program correctly, replace remote keyless entry module. See PROGRAMMING  .
