A-2, Mil On Steady Or Won't Flash Code 12: 4.0L

  1. Start engine. If engine starts, go to step 3). If engine does not start, check I/P PCM 10-amp fuse or circuit from battery junction block. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in circuit. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Using test light connected to ground, check PCM harness terminal circuit No. 439 (Pink wire) and No. 1642 (Red wire). If test light illuminates on both circuits, check for faulty PCM ground or faulty PCM. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in circuit where test light did not illuminate.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Using a fused jumper wire, jumper circuit No. 419 (Brown/White wire) to ground. If MIL illuminates, check for faulty PCM connection or faulty PCM. If MIL does not illuminate, check for faulty bulb, 10-amp chime fuse, faulty 10-pin instrument panel connector, open or short in circuit No. 419 (Brown/White wire) or open in ignition feed circuit to bulb.
