Park/Neutral Position Switch: Installation

  1. Verify transaxle is in "N" position. If position has changed, carefully rotate shaft clockwise from "P" through "R" into "N".
NOTE: Be careful not to damage shaft flats, corners or shaft threads. Switch function may be adversely affected.
NOTE: If reusing park/neutral switch, insert a gauge pin or drill bit into service slots on switch prior to installation to hold switch in neutral position. New switches are already pinned in neutral postion.
  2. Install park/neutral position switch ensuring that flats in switch are aligned with transaxle shaft flats. Press park/neutral position switch onto shaft and ensure that switch is seated against transaxle housing. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Remove gauge pin or drill bit from service slots on switch if installed. Connect linkage cable bracket to manual shaft. Attach linkage retaining nut.
  4. Raise vehicle and attach switch cable to starter. Install front air deflector and lower vehicle. Ensure that vehicle only starts in Park or Neutral shift positions. If engine starts with selector in other positions, repeat steps 1) through 4).
