Security Indicator Does Not Turn On

  1. If engine cranks, go to next step. If engine does not crank, check all power and ground circuits to PASS-Key II decoder module for an open circuit or short to ground. Check all decoder module connector terminals for good terminal contact. If all wiring and terminal contacts are okay, replace decoder module.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PASS-Key II decoder module connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between PASS-Key II decoder module harness connector terminal A5 and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 4).
  3. Connect a fused jumper wire between PASS-Key II decoder module harness connector terminal A5 and ground. If SECURITY indicator does not turn on, repair short to voltage in Dark Green wire. If SECURITY indicator does turn on, check PASS-Key II decoder module connector terminal A5 for good terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, replace PASS-Key II decoder module.
  4. If other instrument cluster lights come on, see the appropriate INSTRUMENT PANEL article.

If other instrument cluster lights do not come on, check instrument panel fuse. Also check all power and grounds for shorts or open circuit. Check indicator bulb. Check instrument cluster connector for good terminal contact.
