Headlight Switch

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Pontiac Grand Am. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With turn signal/headlight switch connectors still attached, battery voltage should be present at connector terminals "A", "D" and "F" (Orange wires). Connectors are located under steering column covers, near turn signal/headlight switch assembly.
  2. Check wiring if voltage is as specified at any indicated terminals. If voltage is as specified at all terminals, turn headlight switch to PARK position. Battery voltage should be present at connector terminal "E" (Brown wire). If voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, replace switch assembly.
  3. Turn headlight switch to HEAD position. Battery voltage should be present at connector terminal "C" (Tan wire). If voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, replace switch assembly.
  4. Activate headlight high beams. Battery voltage should be present at connector terminal "B" (Light Green wire). If voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, replace switch assembly.
  5. Place headlights in low beam setting. While holding lever in flash-to-pass position, battery voltage should be present at connector terminal "B" (Light Green wire). If voltage is present, switch is okay. If voltage is not present, replace switch assembly.
