Removal & Installation (1.9L, 2.0L, 2.2L, 2.5L, 3.1L & 3.4L)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Unplug connectors at ignition module. See Fig 1-5. Disconnect spark plug wires from coil pack. Remove ignition module from engine block. For ignition module location, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS in I - SYS/COMP TESTS article. Also, remove coils and assembly plate (if possible).
  2. On 2.5L engines, inspect crankshaft sensor "O" ring (on base of ignition module) for wear, cracks or other damage. Replace as necessary. Lubricate new "O" ring with engine oil before installing.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten ignition coil nuts and module to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at end of article.
