Isolation Test
NOTE:
The following procedures were written for CCM based cruise control systems.
- Disconnect Cruise Control Module (CCM) connector. Using a DVOM, turn ignition switch to RUN position (when checking voltage) and ignition switch to OFF position (when checking resistance).
- With cruise control switch in OFF position and DVOM on 200-ohm scale, check between terminal "J" and ground. Resistance reading should be zero ohms. If reading is not zero ohms, go to POWER CIRCUIT OPEN TEST .
- Turn ignition on. With DVOM on 20-volt scale, check voltage between terminals "A" and "J", "L" and "J", "M" and "J", and "G" and "J". Voltage reading should be zero volts. If reading is not zero volts, go to CRUISE SWITCH SHORT TEST . Turn ignition off.
- With cruise control switch in ON position and DVOM on 200-ohm scale, check resistance between terminals "C" and "J". Resistance reading should be 30-55 ohms. If reading is not correct, go to VENT CIRCUIT OPEN TEST .
- With DVOM on 200-ohm scale, check resistance between terminals "K" and "J". Resistance reading should be 30-55 ohms. If reading is not correct, go to VAC CIRCUIT OPEN TEST .
- With DVOM on 200-ohm scale, check resistance between terminals "F" and "H". Resistance reading should be 15-25 ohms. If reading is not correct, go to SPS CIRCUIT OPEN TEST .
- Turn ignition on. With DVOM on 20-volt scale, check voltage between terminals "A" and "J". Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, go to POWER CIRCUIT OPEN TEST .
- With DVOM on 20-volt scale, check voltage between terminals "G" and "J". Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, go to BRAKE CIRCUIT OPEN TEST .
- With DVOM on 20-volt scale, check voltage between terminals "M" and "J" and "L" and "J". Voltage reading should be zero volts. If reading is not zero volts, go to CRUISE SWITCH SHORT TEST .
- With cruise switch in ON position, press and hold SET button. With DVOM on 20-volt scale, check voltage between terminals "L" and "J". Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, go to SC CIRCUIT OPEN TEST .
- With cruise switch in R/A position and DVOM on 20-volt scale, check voltage between terminals "M" and "J". Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, go to R/A CIRCUIT OPEN TEST .
- With cruise switch in ON position, drive wheels turned by hand and DVOM on 20-volt scale, check voltage between terminals "A" and "D". Voltage should pulsate between battery voltage and less than 7 volts. If reading is not correct, refer to VSS CIRCUIT OPEN TEST or VSS CIRCUIT SHORT TEST . Turn ignition off.
- With DVOM on 200-ohm scale, check resistance between terminals "H" and "J". Resistance should read infinity (open circuit). If reading is not correct, go to SPS CIRCUIT SHORT TEST .
- Check resistance between terminals "F" and "C", "F" and "K", "H" and "C", and "H" and "K". Resistance should read infinity (open circuit). If reading is not correct, go to SERVO SHORT TEST .
