Code A091 - Open Brake SW Contacts (Deceleration Detection): Notes
This test is used to detect an open brake switch in non-ABS mode. When brake pedal is applied, brake switch closes and a voltage signal is sent to EBCM. The EBCM looks for this signal to know when brake pedal has been applied. The EBCM cannot activate ABS without this signal.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- This step determines if brake switch signal is being received by EBCM.
- This step indicates if an open circuit exists in brake switch or brake lamp circuit.
- This test isolates open circuit to either brake switch input circuit or EBCM.
