Code A014 - Enable Relay Contacts Or Fuse Open: Notes

Ignition voltage is supplied through terminal No. A2 of ABS enable relay. EBCM energizes pull-in coil by completing ground circuit at pin No. 22 of EBCM. The magnetic field created will close enable relay contacts to supply battery voltage to Electro-Mechanical Brake (EMB) and EBCM, providing power to motors and solenoids.

This test checks availability of voltage to motors, solenoids and EMB. Code A014 indicates voltage is not available, and ABS operation is not possible.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This step determines whether enable relay and circuit are functional by checking if EBCM is sensing battery voltage through terminal "A" of enable relay contacts.
  2. This step checks for voltage at enable relay terminals No. A2 and A3.
  3. This step checks for continuity in enable relay pull-in coil.
  4. This step checks ability of EBCM to energize enable relay. An open circuit in EBCM or circuit No. 879 (Purple/White wire) would prevent enable relay from being energized.
  5. This step checks for open in circuit No. 850 (Red/White wire) between enable relay and EBCM.
