Headlight Door Module Test

  1. Disconnect headlight door module connector (module is in left front corner of engine compartment, behind headlights). If headlight doors are stuck open, manually close headlight doors. Use fused jumper wires to connect battery voltage to terminal "D" (Dark Green/White wire). Connect terminal "C" (Light Green/Black wire) to ground.
  2. If headlight doors do not open, check wiring to headlight door motor. If wiring to headlight door motor is okay, replace motor. If headlight doors open, connect test light to Orange wire of headlight door module harness connector and ground. Test light should come on. If test light does not come on, check headlight door fuse No. 2, fusible link "K" (at right front of engine compartment, at power junction block), and Red and Orange wires for open or short to ground.
  3. Connect test light between Orange and Black wires of module harness connector. Test light should light. If test light does not light, check Black wire for open and repair as necessary.
  4. Turn headlight switch to ON position. Connect test light between one Tan wire and ground, then connect other Tan wire and ground. Test light should light in both cases. If test light does not light, check Tan wire(s) for open and repair as necessary.
  5. Turn headlight switch to OFF position. Connect test light between Tan wire(s) and ground. Test light should not light. If test light lights, check Tan wire(s) for short to battery voltage and repair as necessary.
