Chart 3, Compressor Always Engaged (Riviera)

The compressor clutch coil is fed voltage from the 10-amp A/C fuse through a relay that is energized by the power module when signaled by the ECM.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This step checks to see if the fault is due to mechanical binding of the clutch and shorted control signal, or faulty signal to the power module.
  2. This step checks to see if the faulty signal to the power module is due to a fault in the power module, or in the ECM and its control signal circuit.
  3. This step checks to see if the fault is due to mechanical binding of the clutch or a shorted control signal circuit, including the relay.
