Chart 2, Compressor Won't Engage (TORONADO)
The compressor clutch coil is supplied voltage from the 10-amp A/C fuse through a relay, which is energized by the power module when signaled by the ECM.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- This step checks to see that the low side temperature sensor is responding properly.
- This step checks to see if the fault is in the control to the relay or the control to the clutch.
- This step checks to see if the fault is in the feed to the relay or the ground (control) of the relay.
- This step checks to see if the fault is the control of the relay or the relay itself.
- This step checks to see if the fault is due to an open circuit No. 204 or control of circuit No. 204 (power module circuits).
- This step checks to see if the fault is due to the power module or control of the power module.
- This step checks to see if the fault in control of the power module is due to an open circuit No. 762 or a short in the circuit, including the ECM.
- This step checks to see if the fault is due to an open feed circuit No. 50C to the relay or feed to the clutch.
- This step checks to see if the fault is due to the clutch or the clutch power and ground circuits.
