Chart 11, No "Def" From IP Switch (Riviera): Notes

The "Def" switch in the right switch assembly when pressed, will signal the IPC by momentarily providing a ground path. The IPC then sends this message to the BCM. The BCM will, in turn, signal the programmer as it normally would if "Def" was selected on the CRT.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. IPC input value II11 displays the voltage state of the circuit at the IPC. This can be observed with readings of "LO" and "HI" when the switch is depressed. This is a momentary signal and will read "HI" shortly after switch is depressed. Make sure "LO" was temporarily displayed.
  2. This step checks to see if short to ground reading is due to circuit or switch assembly.
  3. This step checks to see if fault was intermittent.
  4. This step checks to see if open circuit reading is due to an open in the circuit or the switch.
