Installing Pressure Gauge

NOTE: Before connecting pressure gauge, hydraulic accumulator must be depressurized. With ignition off, pump brake pedal a MINIMUM of 20 times using full pedal strokes. When a definite increase in pedal effort is felt, pump pedal 2 more times.

Some diagnostic procedures require that a pressure gauge be connected to the energy unit to read accumulator pressure. Use the following procedure:

  1. Depressurize accumulator. Remove pressure hose fitting (banjo bolt) from pump body. Take care not to drop the 2 "O" ring seals when removing fitting.
  2. Install one of the 2 "O" ring seals on pressure gauge fitting and insert gauge fitting into pressure hose coupling.
  3. Install second "O" ring seal on gauge fitting on the underside of pressure hose coupling and thread gauge fitting into pump body. Tighten fitting to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m).
  4. When removing gauge and installing pressure fitting, inspect "O" ring seals for cuts or damage. Replace any cut or damaged "O" ring seals.
