Sensor String

Consists of an in-car sensor, ambient sensor, the temperature dial rheostat and a feedback potentiometer. These units are all connected in series between ground and the amplifier in the programmer to provide a variable control voltage for the transducer operation as described under "Programmer" paragraphs, Sensors are located as follows:

  1. The in-car sensor is mounted on the instrument panel above the glove box. An aspirator is mounted on top of the heater case. Whenever the blower motor is operating, air is drawn through the aspirator hose and in-car sensor tube. The air is drawn over the in-car sensor through the instrument panel from the interior of the car. The hose must be in place to provide an accurate sensor signal.
NOTE: A disconnected hose will result in erratic or slow response to in-car temperature changes.
  2. The ambient sensor is mounted as an assembly with the Ambient Switch on the evaporator housing in the engine compartment. This sensor monitors incoming air temperature.
