CONSULT Function

APPLICATION ITEM 

CONSULT can display each diagnostic item using the diagnostic test modes as follows.

Mode Function description
ECU identification Parts number of chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor) can be read.
Self Diagnostic Result Self-diagnostic results and freeze frame data can be read and erased quickly.*1
Data Monitor Input/Output data in chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor) can be read.
Active Test Send the drive signal from CONSULT to the actuator. The operation check can be performed.
Re/programming, Configuration
  • Read and save the vehicle specification (TYPE ID).
  • Write the vehicle specification (TYPE ID) when replacing chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor).

*1: The following diagnosis information is erased by erasing.

ECU IDENTIFICATION 

Chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor) part number can be read.

SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT 

Refer to DTC Index . When "CRNT" is displayed on "self-diagnosis result"

When "PAST" is displayed on "self-diagnosis result"

Freeze frame data (FFD) 

When DTC is detected, a vehicle state shown below is recorded and displayed on CONSULT.

TCS MALF Off / On Displays the TCS malfunction status.
VDC INACT / ACTIVE Displays the VDC function status.
VDC MALF Off / On Displays the VDC malfunction status.
VDC OFF SWITCH Off / On Displays the VDC OFF status.
Buckle SW Off / On Displays the seat belt buckle switch (driver side) status.
VDC (ABH active) Possible / Impossible Displays the automatic brake hold active status at ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).
ABH (CCM) Off / On Displays the brake hold status at automatic brake hold from chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor).
Slope Slow / Steep Displays the slope status.
PB active request (VDC) REQ / NO REQ Displays the electric parking brake active request status to electric parking brake control module from ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).
CCM (VDC) Normal / Ab normal Displays the chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor) status detected by ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).

ABH active judge (CCM) OK / NG Displays the judgement of automatic brake hold active states.

NOTE: SYMBOL The following table includes information (items) inapplicable to this vehicle. For information (items) applicable to this vehicle, refer to CONSULT display items.

ACTIVE TEST 

The active test is used to determine and identify details of a malfunction, based on self-diagnosis test results and data obtained in the DATA MONITOR. In response to instructions from CONSULT, instead of those from chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor) on the vehicle, a drive signal is sent to the actuator to check its operation.

CAUTION:
  • Never perform ACTIVE TEST while driving the vehicle.
  • Always bleed air from brake system before active test.
  • Never perform active test when system is malfunctioning.
NOTE: SYMBOL
  • When active test is performed while depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal depressing stroke may change. This is not a malfunction.
  • During an active test, sometimes a chassis control warning is displayed and the master warning lamp illuminates on the information display in the combination meter; however, this is not a malfunction.

MASTER WARNING ACTIVE On If touching "On" with the master warning lamp not illuminated, the master warning lamp illuminates. Stops in approximately 1 minute.
Off The master warning lamp turns OFF. (vehicle in normal state)
Automatic brake hold lamp active Standby (white) lamp lighting Turn On the automatic brake hold indicator lamp (white) in the combination meter.
Operation (green) lamp lighting Turn On the automatic brake hold indicator lamp (green) in the combination meter.
Automatic brake hold SW lamp active LED lighting Turn On the automatic brake hold switch indicator.
LED blinking (1Hz) Blink the automatic brake hold switch indicator.

RE/PROGRAMMING, CONFIGURATION 

Configuration includes the following functions.

Function Description
Read/Write Configuration Before replacing ECU Allows the reading of vehicle specification (Type ID) written in chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor) to store the specification in CONSULT.
After replacing ECU Allows the writing of vehicle information (Type ID) stored in CONSULT into the chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor).
Manual Configuration Allows the writing of vehicle specification (Type ID) into the chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor) by hand.
CAUTION:

Use "Manual Configuration" only when "TYPE ID" of chassis control module (with built in steering angle sensor) cannot be read.
