Intelligent Key unit |
- Intelligent Key unit controls INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM (ENGINE START FUNCTION), NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-NATS [NVIS (NATS)] and VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM.
- Intelligent Key unit performs the ID verification between Intelligent Key unit and Intelligent Key when the Intelligent Key is carried into the detection area of inside key antenna, and push-button ignition switch is pressed. If the ID verification result is OK, ignition switch operation is available.
- Then, when the ignition switch is placed ON, Intelligent Key unit performs ID verification between Intelligent Key unit and ECM. If the ID verification result is OK, ECM can start engine.
Refer to Intelligent Key Unit
for detailed component location. |

Horn (low) |
IPDM E/R energizes the horn when horn chirp is required. |
| 9. |
Hood switch(if equipped) |
Hood switch transmits hood open/closed signal to the IPDM E/R. Refer to Component Location
for detailed component location. |
| 10. |
Transmission range switch(with CVT) |
Supplies power to the starter cut relay (inside IPDM E/R) when the CVT shift selector is shifted into the P or N position. Refer to Component Location
for detailed component location. |
| 11. |
IPDM E/R (Intelligent Power Distribution Module Engine Room) |
IPDM E/R detects hood open/closed signal and controls horns when horn chirp is required. Refer to Component Location
for detailed component location. |
| 12. |
ECM (Engine Control Module) |
- ECM controls the engine.
- When power supply position is placed ON, BCM starts communication with ECM and performs the ID verification between BCM and ECM. If the verification result is OK, the engine can start. If the verification result is invalid, the engine can not start.
Refer to Component Location
for detailed component location. |
| 13. |
BCM (Body Control Module) |
BCM controls the door lock actuators. Refer to Component Location
for detailed component location. |
| 14. |
Stop lamp switch |
Stop lamp switch detects that the brake pedal is depressed, and transmits the signal to the BCM. Refer to Stop lamp switch
for detailed component location. |
| 15. |
Combination meter |
- Combination meter transmits the vehicle speed signal to BCM via CAN communication.
- BCM also receives the vehicle speed signal from ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) via CAN communication. BCM compares both signals to detect the vehicle speed.
- Security indicator lamp is located on combination meter.
- Security indicator lamp blinks when ignition switch is in any position other than ON to warn that NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-NATS [NVIS (NATS)] is on board.
Refer to Component Location
(type A) or Component Location
(type B) for detailed component location. |

Push-button ignition switch/NATS antenna Amp. |
- Push-button ignition switch has push switch inside which detects that push-button ignition switch is pressed, and then transmits ON/OFF signal to Intelligent Key unit. Intelligent Key unit changes the ignition switch position with the operation of push-button ignition switch. Intelligent Key unit maintains the ignition switch position status while push-button ignition switch is not operated.
- The ID verification is performed between BCM and transponder in Intelligent Key via NATS antenna amp., which is integrated into the push-button ignition switch, when Intelligent Key backside is contacted to push-button ignition switch in case that Intelligent Key battery is discharged. If the ID verification result is OK, the operation of starting engine is available.
Refer to Push-button Ignition Switch
and NATS Antenna Amp. for detailed component location. |
