Component

Function

1.

Intelligent Key unit

  • Intelligent Key unit controls power distribution system.
  • Intelligent Key unit judges Push-button ignition switch status and vehicle condition.
  • Intelligent Key unit checks Push-button ignition switch status internally.

Refer to Component Location for detailed component location.

2.

Starter relay

  • The starter relay is controlled by the BCM.
  • The starter relay supplies power to the starter cut relay in the IPDM E/R.

3.

IPDM E/R

(Intelligent Power Distribution Module Engine Room)

  • IPDM E/R detects push-button ignition switch status, and transmits ignition switch status signal (CAN) to BCM.
  • IPDM E/R receives ignition relay-1 (IPDM E/R) control signal and ignition switch ON signal (CAN) from BCM, and controls ignition relay-1 (built into IPDM E/R)

Refer to Component Location for detailed component location.

4.

BCM

(Body Control Module)

  • BCM controls power distribution system.
  • BCM judges Push-button ignition switch status and vehicle condition.
  • BCM checks Push-button ignition switch status internally.

Refer to Component Location for detailed component location.

5.

Push-button ignition switch

(with Intelligent Key)

Refer to Push-button Ignition Switch .

6.

CVT shift selector (detent switch)

(with CVT transmission)

The CVT shift selector (detent switch) sends the park position switch signal to the Intelligent Key unit.

Refer to Component Location for detailed component location.

7.

Transmission range switch

(with CVT transmission)

The transmission range switch transmits P (park) and N (neutral) signals to the IPDM E/R.

Refer to Component Location for detailed component location.

8.

Ignition relay-2 [in fuse block (J/B)]

  • Ignition relay-2 is controlled by Intelligent Key unit.
  • Ignition relay-2 supplies ignition ON power supply or ignition ON signal to each ECU and system when ignition is placed ON.
  • Intelligent Key unit compares status of ignition relay-2 control signal and Push-button ignition switch status judged by Intelligent Key unit.
  • Intelligent Key unit monitors ignition relay-2 operating status by ignition relay-2 feedback signal.

9.

Accessory relay-1 [in fuse block (J/B)]

  • Accessory relay-1 is controlled by BCM.
  • Accessory relay-1 supplies accessory power supply or ignition ON signal to each ECU when ignition is placed ON.
  • BCM compares status of accessory relay-1 control signal, and Push-button ignition switch status judged by BCM.

10.

Front blower motor relay [in fuse block (J/B)]

  • Front blower motor relay is controlled by Intelligent Key unit.
  • Front blower motor relay supplies ignition ON power supply or ignition ON signal to air conditioning system when ignition is placed ON.
  • Intelligent Key unit compares status of front blower motor relay control signal and Push-button ignition switch status judged by Intelligent Key unit.

11.

Stop lamp switch

Stop lamp switch detects that the brake pedal is depressed and transmits the signal to the BCM.

Refer to Component Location for detailed component location.
