CAUTION: When replacing the ECM, always replace it with a new one. The functions controlled by the ECM does not operate properly in case of reuse of the ECM from another vehicle.

PROGRAMMING OPERATION

NOTE: After replacing with a blank ECM, programming is required to write ECM information. Be sure to follow the procedure to perform the programming.

Work Procedure (Before Replacing ECM)

  1. SAVE 'OPERATION LOG'

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

Save Operation Log, according to the procedure of "Programming" in CONSULT Operation Manual.

NOTE: ECM part number is saved in Operating Log saved in CONSULT.
    • Replace ECM.
    • After replacing ECM, perform necessary work.

Work Procedure (After Replacing ECM)

  1. CHECK 'OPERATION LOG'

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

Check Operation Log saved before replacing ECM, according to the procedure of "Programming" in CONSULT Operation Manual.

NOTE: For the vehicle that the programming is to be performed, check if Operation Log of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is in Saved Data List.

Is there an applicable Operation Log in the Saved Data List?

    YES

    GO TO 2.

    NO

    GO TO 3.

  2. PERFORM ECM PROGRAMMING

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

Perform ECM programming, according to "Programming" of CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.

CAUTION: During programming, maintain the following conditions:
    • Ignition switch: ON
    • Electric load: OFF
    • Brake pedal: Not depressed
    • Battery voltage: 12 - 13.5 V (Check the value displayed on the CONSULT screen.)

    GO TO 5.

  3. READ IN ECM PART NUMBER BY 'EPC (service parts catalog) LINKED'

Obtain ECM part number by NISSAN PARTS CATALOGUE GLOBAL EPC (service parts catalog), according to the procedure of 'EPC (service parts catalog) linked' in CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.

NOTE: 'EPC (service parts catalog) linked' allows an appropriate programming by obtaining ECU part number from NISSAN PARTS CATALOGUE GLOBAL EPC (service parts catalog) even when the part number cannot be obtained from the old ECU used before replacing with a new one.

    GO TO 4.

  4. PERFORM PROGRAMMING [EPC (service parts catalog) LINKED]

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

Perform ECM programming according to the procedure of EPC (service parts catalog) linked in CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.

CAUTION: During programming, maintain the following conditions:
    • Ignition switch: ON
    • Electric load: OFF
    • Brake pedal: Not depressed
    • Battery voltage: 12 - 13.5 V (Check the value displayed on the CONSULT screen.)

    GO TO 5.

  5. PERFORM INITIALIZATION OF IVIS (NATS) SYSTEM AND REGISTRATION OF ALL IVIS (NATS) IGNITION KEY IDS

Refer to Work Procedure .(with intelligent key system) or refer to Work Procedure .(without intelligent key system).

    GO TO 6.

  6. CHECK ECM DATA STATUS

Check if the data is successfully copied from the ECM at Step 1 (before replacement) and saved in CONSULT.

    Is the data saved successfully?

    YES

    GO TO 7.

    NO

    GO TO 8.

  7. WRITE ECM DATA

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

    1. Select "WRITING DATA FOR REPLC CPU" in "WORK SUPPORT" mode of "ENGINE" using CONSULT.
    2. Follow the instruction of CONSULT display.
NOTE: The data saved by "SAVING DATA FOR REPLC CPU" is written to ECM.

    GO TO 9.

  8. PERFORM VIN REGISTRATION

    Refer to Work Procedure .

    GO TO 9.

  9. PERFORM ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED POSITION LEARNING

Perform accelerator pedal released position learning. Refer to Work Procedure .

    GO TO 10.

  10. PERFORM THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING

Perform throttle valve closed position learning. Refer to Work Procedure .

    GO TO 11.
