Steering Column: Inspection

STEERING COLUMN

1. Check each part of steering column for damage or other malfunctions. Replace entire steering column if any parts are damaged.
2. Measure steering column rotating torque using Tool (A). Replace steering column if outside the specification.

   Rotating torque

   : Refer to Steering Column Operating Range .

3. Measure the steering column length as shown if vehicle has been involved in a minor collision. Replace steering column if outside the specifications.

   : Refer to Steering Column Operating Range .

4. Check each part of steering column for damage or other malfunctions. Replace if there are any abnormal conditions.
5. Check the steering wheel play, neutral position steering wheel, steering wheel turning force, and front wheel turning angle. Refer to Inspection .
