Engine Oil: Refilling

  1. Install drain plug with new drain plug washer and tighten to the specified torque.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not reuse drain plug washer.
    • Be sure to clean drain plug and install with new drain plug washer.

  2. Refill engine with new engine oil.
    CAUTION:
    • The refill capacity depends on the engine oil temperature and drain time. Use these specifications for reference only.
    • Always use oil level gauge to determine the proper amount of engine oil in the engine.
    NOTE:
    • Do not allow contaminants such as engine oil, engine coolant or A/T fluid to contact engine room cover. Contaminants can cause damage to engine room cover.
    • Do not use organic solvents such as thinner, benzene, alcohol or gasoline to clean engine room cover because they can damage the engine room cover. Only use water with mild detergent (concentration: within 2 - 3%) to remove contaminants from engine room cover.

    Engine oil specification and capacity

    : Refer to Fluids and Lubricants .
  3. Warm up engine and check area around drain plug and oil filter for engine oil leaks.
  4. Stop engine and wait for 10 minutes.
  5. Check the engine oil level. Refer to Inspection .
