Removal and Installation: Installation

CAUTION: Do not apply undue stress to steering column.
  1. Align lower joint (2) and steering column matching mark and install steering column (1) to lower joint.

  2. Install bolt (A) finger-tight. Verify bolt (A) is seated in groove (B) and tighten to specification. Refer to Exploded View .
    CAUTION: Bolt is (A) directional. Refer to Exploded View .
  3. Installation of remaining components is in the reverse order of removal.
    CAUTION:
    • Install steering column bolts finger-tight, then tighten to specification.
    • Tighten steering column bolts to specification in the sequence shown in the illustration:

      Torque

      No. 1

      : 20.15 N.m (2.1 kg-m, 15 ft-lb)

      No. 2 and No. 3

      : 16.7 N.m (1.7 kg-m, 12 ft-lb)
    • Check tilt and telescope mechanism operating range. Refer to Inspection .
