Component part

Function

1.

TCM

CPU inside TCM communicates the signal from Transmission range switch via CAN system.

2.

ECM

CPU inside ECM communicates the signal from Transmission range switch via CAN system.

3.

IPDM E/R

CPU inside IPDM E/R operates the starter cut relay when the ignition switch is in the start position.

4.

BCM

BCM controls the starter relay inside the IPDM E/R.

5.

Starter motor

The starter motor plunger closes and the motor is supplied with battery power, which in turn cranks the engine, when the S terminal is supplied with electric power.

6.

Transmission range switch

Supplies signal to BCM when the CVT shift selector is shifted into the P or N position.
