Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK OVERALL FUNCTION-I
With CONSULT-III
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Select "BRAKE SW1" in "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT-III.
- Check "BRAKE SW1" indication under the following conditions.

- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals.

Brake pedal and clutch pedal (M/T)Slightly depressed Approx. 0 V Fully released Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 2.
NO: GO TO 3.
- CHECK OVERALL FUNCTION-II
With CONSULT-III
Select "BRAKE SW2" and check indication in "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT-III.

Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals.

YES: GO TO 16.
NO: GO TO 11.
- CHECK ASCD BRAKE SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-I
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ASCD brake switch harness connector.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between ASCD brake switch harness connector and ground.
TERMINAL VOLTAGE REFERENCE CHARTASCD brake switch Ground Voltage Connector Terminal E112 1 Ground Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 9.
NO-1: CVT models: GO TO 4.
NO-2: M/T models: GO TO 5.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E105, M77
- 10 A fuse (No. 2)
- Harness for open or short between ASCD brake switch and fuse
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK ASCD CLUTCH SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ASCD clutch switch harness connector.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between ASCD clutch switch harness connector and ground.
TERMINAL VOLTAGE REFERENCE CHARTASCD brake switch Ground Voltage Connector Terminal E111 3 Ground Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 7.
NO: GO TO 6.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E105, M77
- 10 A fuse (No. 2)
- Harness for open or short between ASCD clutch switch and fuse
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK ASCD BRAKE SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-II
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ASCD brake switch harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ASCD clutch switch harness connector and ASCD brake switch harness connector.TERMINAL CONTINUITY REFERENCE CHART
ASCD clutch switch ASCD brake switch Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E111 4 E112 1 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 8.
NO: Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK ASCD CLUTCH SWITCH
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION (ASCD CLUTCH SWITCH) ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 16.
NO: Replace ASCD clutch switch.
- CHECK ASCD BRAKE SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ASCD brake switch harness connector and ECM harness connector.TERMINAL CONTINUITY REFERENCE CHART
ASCD clutch switch ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E112 2 E16 100 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 10.
NO: Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK ASCD BRAKE SWITCH
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION (ASCD BRAKE SWITCH) ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 16.
NO: Replace ASCD brake switch.
- CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect stop lamp switch harness connector.
- Check the voltage between stop lamp switch harness connector and ground.
TERMINAL VOLTAGE REFERENCE CHARTStop lamp switch Ground Voltage Connector Terminal E114 (M/T)
E115 (CVT)1 Ground Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 13.
NO: GO TO 12.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E105, M77
- 10A fuse (No. 11)
- Harness for open or short between stop lamp switch and battery
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and stop lamp switch harness connector.TERMINAL CONTINUITY REFERENCE CHART
ECM Stop lamp switch Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E16 99 E114 (M/T)
E115 (CVT)2 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 15.
NG: GO TO 14.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness for open or short between ECM and stop lamp switch
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION (STOP LAMP SWITCH) ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 16.
NO: Replace stop lamp switch.
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
INSPECTION END
