Side AIR Bag Module

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Remove appropriate side air bag module from vehicle and mount in a vise. See SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Make two 0.256" (6.5 mm) diameter holes in Air Bag Module Bracket (J41246) at positions shown in diagram. See Fig 1 . Firmly secure air bag module bracket in a vise. Match 2 holes in air bag module bracket and side air bag module and secure with 2 nuts (6 mm). See Fig 2 .
- Connect Air Bag Deployment Adapter (J38381-35) to Air Bag Deployment Tool (J38381) and to side air bag module connector. Position a fully charged 12-volt battery at least 16 ft. (5 m) from deployment area. Connect Red deployment tool clip to positive battery terminal and Black deployment tool clip to negative battery terminal.
- Ensure deployment tool power lamp glows Green. If deployment tool power lamp glows Red, reverse battery connections and recheck lamp. Ensure no one is within 16 ft. (5 m) of side air bag module. Press deployment tool button to deploy side air bag module.
